PAL Draws Camp 200+

Over 200 city kids showed up for the first day of the police department’s summer camp, and spots remain open.

The free camp for kids Kids 8 to 13 years old kicked off the season at 8 a.m. Wilbur Cross High School following a campaign to draw more kids this year and give them a productive way to pass the summer. Kids get free bus pick-ups from neighborhood police substations, or they can be dropped off at the school. Click here for background on the camp.

Every year for the past three years we have increased the size of PAL Camp New Haven. We were excited to greet more than 200 youth this morning. Every one of them had their hand shaken by a New haven police officer,” Chief Dean Esserman said. PAL Camp New Haven is one of the best and proudest initiatives of the New Haven police department.”

It’s not too late to sign up: Parents can call Sgt. Elisa Tuozzoli (203 – 946-6137) or Sgt. Al McFadden (203 – 946-2888) and info on how to sign up — it’s not too late.
