Police have a man in custody whom they’re questioning about a Thursday evening shooting in the West Hills neighborhood.

Assistant Archie Generoso described the man as a “person of interest” in the shooting.

The shooting took place on Victory Drive around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Officers found a man there who’d been shot four times, twice in the upper body, twice in the legs, police said. Witnesses described hearing people arguing at the scene followed by gunshots. The victim remained in “critical” but “stable” condition in the hospital Friday.

Meanwhile, detectives working overnight developed “strong leads” in the case, Generoso said.

They picked up the “person of interest”—a 19-year-old man who lives near the shooting scene—on an unrelated parole violation, Generoso said. As of 11:30 a.m. he had not been charged in connection with the shooting.
