For the 13th straight New Year’s Day, some 50 New Haveners were not wimps. By any stretch of the imagination.
They headed to Lighthouse Point Park and plunged into the water to raise money for city parks, and to have fun, of course. About 30 other people watched.
The event raised over $1,800 in pledges for the New Haven Land Trust as well as pledges for the Friends of Edgewood Park, said plunge organizer Chris Randall (pictured as Poseidan at Tuesday morning’s event). Randall joined up some other parks and polar plunge fans to resuscitate this year’s event after the official annaul bash was canceled due to damage to the carousel building by Superstorm Sandy. (Click here to read about that.)
William Kurtz took these photos at the event.
