Police Probe Baby’s Death

Police are investigating the death of an 8‑month-old baby who was whisked away to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:

At 2:08 p.m., police got a call about an unresponsive 8‑month-old baby girl inside an apartment at 90 Park St. The girl’s mother had knocked on a neighbor’s door for help, and the neighbor called 911.

Paramedics arrived and found the young girl in cardiac arrest,” Harman wrote in a Wednesday evening press release. She was brought to the pediatric emergency department at Yale-New Haven Hospital,” where doctors pronounced her dead.

Police believe the child was in the care of her mother at the time of the incident. Her mom has since been admitted to the hospital for treatment of an undisclosed illness.”

Police detectives are investigating the death along with death investigators from the state medical examiner’s office, Hartman said.

No charges have been filed in this case. The cause of death is unknown and remains under investigation.”
