When a 44-year-old man came out of his bathroom on Saturday morning, he found his ex-girlfriend waiting with a steak knife, police said.
The man was stabbed in the neck. It was one of two weekend assaults police are investigating. The other was a sexual assault Friday near Dixwell Plaza. Police are looking for suspects in both incidents.
Here’s what happened according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:
Police responded at 6:24 a.m. to a report of a stabbing in an apartment on Fairmont Avenue on Saturday. Officers found a 44-year-old man standing at the corner of Farren Avenue and Fulton Street waving for help. He had been stabbed in the neck and was bleeding a lot. The man told the cops that his ex-girlfriend had come to his apartment that morning. When he emerged from the bathroom, he saw her holding a steak knife. She stabbed him in the neck and then ran out the door. The man chased after her but stopped at Farren and Fulton and waited for the police.
By Monday afternoon, police had not located the ex-girlfriend. Both she and the victim have restraining orders in place against each other.
On Friday afternoon at 4, there was a sexual assault near Dixwell Plaza. Police are looking for help identifying and finding the suspect. He is described as a black male, about 30 years old, with a mustache. He has several tattoos, including a gun on his arm and the letters “f.u.c.k.” on his body. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and black hoody. He was driving a two-door “Toyota-type” vehicle.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call (203) 946-6316.
In other police news, according to Avery:
Officer Edrick Agosto was working an extra-duty shift at Shaw’s on Whalley Avenue on Saturday. While investigating a shoplifting complaint, he stopped a 23-year-old man. After a brief struggle, the man was “taken down” and detained. He had a .22 caliber revolver on him.
