Q River Takes Charge

Allan Appel Photo Deep cold and high winds were not the only extreme weather conditions causing damage over the last few days.

Over at the Oyster Cove condominiums just north of Grand Avenue on Front Street, the Q River took charge . Late Friday the Quinnipiac ripped away two “finger” docks from the condo’s set of ten.
Condo association member Michele Schiraldi said in an email that “due to an exceptionally low tide and the resulting high-speed current, substantial damage has been sustained by the docks.”
Condo residents Rich Capozzi (the board president) and Jim Yeske were able to tie the loose fingers to the secure floating dock with some high tensile line.
There was concern that there is more damage to the docks as well. No estimate of the cost of repair was available. All boats had been removed.
