This weekend: A young man was shot in the thigh on Dixwell Avenue, cops seized a gun from an ejected bar patron, and a man was arrested for robbing someone in Fair Haven with a stick. Read on for details on weekend crime, according to police spokeswoman Bonnie Winchester. For block-by-block year-to-date crime info, check the Independent’s crime log.
Early Friday afternoon, a 21-year old man was shot on Dixwell Avenue near Argyle Street at 2:49 p.m. The victim, from Dixwell Avenue, was shot in the left thigh. The suspect, said to be in his late teens, was not found.
Just before midnight Friday night, a man was robbed at gunpoint of his keys and jewelry on the Ella Grasso Boulevard near Printer’s Lane.
Saturday night at the R Bar, a patron was kicked out of the bar. At about 1 a.m. Sunday, two extra-duty cops saw the patron going to his car to get something. They recovered a loaded 38-caliber revolver and arrested the ejected patron, a 20 year-old from Bridgeport.
At 4:18 am Sunday outside 480 Ferry St., a man was robbed by a man and two women, who threatened him with sticks. Police caught one of the alleged assailants, a 20 year-old man.
And at 1:43 am Sunday in the Hill, a woman reported an attempted drive-by shooting. She told police as she and her boyfriend were leaving a convenience store near Redfield Street and Congress Avenue, someone tried to shoot at them, but missed. The victims got into a car and called police as they followed the shooters as they drove away. Cops later found the alleged getaway car in the Church Street South housing complex, but did not find the suspects there.
