Frank Ricci, no stranger to testifying before lawmakers, was up at the state Capitol Tuesday urging the legislature to preserve municipal aid from budget cuts and to avoid cuts to Hartford’s fire department.

“It’s political theater,” he said of Hartford mayor’s quest to cut fire costs.
Ricci is the president of New Haven’s fire union. As the lead plaintiff in the landmark Ricci vs. DeStefano affirmative action Supreme Court case, he ended up testifying before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee about the nomination of Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
