Mets Maniac Finds Silver Lining

Before it has even begun for the year 2015, Hanukkah has officially ended in the Rudikoff household. But Joel Rudikoff and his kids aren’t mourning the thrashing of his beloved New York Mets in the World Series. They’re also celebrating a great season.

I don’t look at is a glass half empty. I view it as a glass half full,” said Rudikoff with co-hosts Vincent J. Mauro, Jr. and Adam Joseph Friday on the latest episode of the Cannoli/Knish Sports Hour” on WNHH radio. The team’s disastrous performance last Saturday is why: while his favorite guys in orange and blue were pummeled, he and his family were there to see it. It was his son Eli’s first major league baseball game. He’ll remember that, Rudikoff noted, forever.

Not everyone was so sympathetic. They blew it! They blew it,” Mauro nodded. Joseph nodded solemnly in agreement.

Rudikoff persisted. The thing that makes baseball special is that its a daily thing. When you’re a real fan. when you really care about a team, you see them play every day. You see the ups and the downs. You know what? I sort of miss this team. This will be a season that I’ll always remember — I’ll always remember the 2015 World Series. Mazel tov to the New York Mets.”
