Investigation Underway

Two teens shot in the Newhallville area are alive after sustaining non life-threatening injuries.

So reported New Haven Police Department spokesman Officer David Hartman in a press release.

At 6:35 p.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to the corner of Winchester Avenue at Lilac Street after officers in the area heard gunfire. Callers to 911 reported two shooting victims – one at the intersection and the other nearby, in front of 7/9 Lilac Street.

Hartman’s press release confirms that the victims are juveniles. One is a 14-year-old male who was shot once in his left leg. The other is a 15-year-old male who was shot in his left ankle. Both are believed to be from New Haven.

Unconfirmed witness reports suggest a white car – possibly a Dodge Intrepid with New York marker plates may have been involved.

Anyone who witnessed the shootings or who has information valuable to investigators is urged to phone detectives at 203 – 946-6304.
