Shot. Shot. Shot

None of them were killed. None of the incidents were “major” news. But three people did get shot around town in separate incidents reported to police between 4:49 p.m. Sunday and 1:54 a.m. Monday.
One of the victims, a 23-year-old rapper named Jordan Rambert, was listed in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital after someone shot him in the back at Ivy and Butler Street around 6 p.m., police said. He was putting up flyers at the time for a show at the weekly basketball tournament at the courts outside Lincoln-Bassett, police said.
An argument with “someone known to him” ended with a 41-year-old man getting shot in the face at Dixwell and Henry a little more than an hour earlier than that. Police described his injuries as “non-life-threatening.” The victim, who was brought to the hospital by a private car, told police that during the argument, the victim “tried to grab [a] gun from his would be assailant, at which time it fired. The bullet grazed the victim’s cheek,” according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.
The Monday early-morning shooting took place at the Farnam Courts development at Grand and Hamilton. An 18-year-old was taken by the hospital for “treatment of a non-life-threatening wounds,” according to Hartman. He claimed to police—in a summary often offered at the early stages of investigations into shootings that end up developing quite different narratives later on—that “he’d been sitting on a utility box outside, when he heard
gunfire. He said when he heard the third shot he decided to run from the area. It was then that he realized he’d been hit by one of the bullets.”
That shooting took place not far from a strip joint on East Street where a 22-year-old Waterbury man was shot death early Sunday morning.

I thought this ongoing horror was to be addressed as a public heath crisis. So far, all I see are calls for prayer and mouthing off by so-called leaders and preachers, yet people keep shooting each other. This is an embarrassment to the city and so unfair to innocent bystanders caught up in the madness. Where is the outrage??!!
why do you expect outrage? Those running the city and state are much happier if we all live in fear and agree to pay more taxes towards some Utopian society of the future towards which we never make any progress. If we keep electing the same type of people, we will continue to experience the same type of results.
Will anyone demand change?
Actually the Farnum Court shooting was “Sunday” morning. Minutes after the Homicide at Cheetah Club.
From the opening paragraph:
...None of the incidents were “major” news…
Is that an Editorial comment from the NHI Staff Writer(s)?
Is that a quote from the NHPD/Hartman to the NHI and the Press?
Three people shot (one critically, another in the face) in a 24 hour period following the latest gunshot homicide does not earn the label of “major” news? Absurd. Ridiculous. Ignorant.
So, who is responsible for that designation? Do they stand behind it? I’d like to know.
