The Shubert Theater is preparing a 13-month calendar to commemorate its upcoming 100th anniversary year—and it’s looking for artistic fans to help illustrate it.
The theater Thursday announced a contest with this theme: “Let your story become part of Shubert history.”
The theater invites people to submit original art (maximum size of 36 inches wide by 24 inches tall) for the calendar, which will run from December 2014 through December 2015. “The art can be inspired by a show you saw at the Shubert, a memory of an event or program you attended, or even a show you performed in on the Shubert stage,” according to a release. “The art can be a painting, drawing, sculpture or other medium – a jpeg of the art creation should be submitted along with a completed contest entry form.”
The contest has “four entry categories: students in grades K through 12, ages 18-25, ages 25+, and professional artists.”
The deadline is Oct. 1, with winners notified at the month’s end. The Shbuert will feature the winners in the calendar and in displays in the theater lobby.
