Officers D. Rivera and J. Miranda spotted a group of people creating a “breach of peace” at Orchard and Elm Streets at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A group of them left on bicycles. As cops approached one of the bikers, a 17-year-old from County Street, he began to flee on foot, according to police. The cops chased him on foot into the rear of 309 Dixwell Ave. Police say they found a loaded Smith and Wesson gun near where the suspect was detained. They arrested him on gun charges.

And a man walked into police headquarters at 3:55 a.m. Thursday to report that he had been mugged. He said he had been walking in the area of Edgewood and Ella Grasso Blvd when he was approached by an unknown man. The mugger, who appeared to be in his late teens, simulated having a weapon. The victim was robbed of a gold chain, gold cross and wedding band.
