Track Crime On Your Block

When did someone get mugged on your street? Where did cars get stolen in March? Thanks to a new feature on this web site produced by the two guys above, you can find out what crimes have taken place on your street, or any New Haven street, by day or week or month or year to date. (We won’t tell the boss if, like me, you end up spending hours poking around it.)

The new feature is called the New Haven Crime Log.” Click here to check it out.

Local computer programmers Dan Chudnov and Raman Prasad (left to right in above photo) came up with the idea and pitched it to us. Prasad proceeded to spend long hours designing the site, working out the bugs. Frank Quadrino at the police department provided the computerized data to make it work.

Thanks guys!

New Haven now joins cities like Chicago in pioneering the dissemination of instant block-by-block crime data to everyday citizens. For more background on our new crime log, click here.

Crime statistics will be fed weekly onto the site, so readers should know that a crime that just happened on their block over the past few days may not yet appear.
