Three search warrants led to eight arrests on Monday, as the city narc unit hit addresses on South End Road, Exchange Street, and Elm Street.
Here’s what happened according to police spokesman Office Joe Avery:
Police obtained the search warrants after confirming that drugs were being sold at the three locations. At 2:15 p.m., the unit arrived at South End Road, where they found a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman. Police found drug scales, drug paraphernalia, and $280 cash. The man and the woman were arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. The man was additionally charged with interfering with a police officer.
At 4:30 p.m., the unit went to a house on Exchange Street, where they made two more arrests and found about seven ounces of marijuana, $1,406, and several scales and drug paraphernalia.
Finally, at 7 p.m., the narc squad went to a house on Elm Street. They found only drug paraphernalia there. Three people were arrested for interfering with a search warrant. A fourth person was found to have an outstanding warrant and arrested.
In other police news, according to Avery:
A man was mugged by a group of men at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday on Kimberly Avenue near Grant Street. The victim told police that he was walking to home when he passed by a group of five to seven men. One of the group punched him in the back of his head. The victim fell to the ground and the group began kicking him. The muggers took the victim’s wallet, which contained 50 pounds in U.K. currency (worth about $80), two bank cards, a J.C. Penney card, driver’s license, and a library card.
Officers responded to an apartment on Eastern Street at 6:38 p.m. on Monday for a report of a robbery. A man told him he had been walking home from Walgreens when three man appeared and demanded his money. On of the men pointed a sawed-off shotgun at him. The victim handed over $15.
On Monday, police received a report of a Jan. 23 robbery. The victim told police he was approached by three men on Grand Avenue at 2:30 a.m. The men had dark clothing and partial face-masks. The three started beating him then took his gold Citizen watch, valued at $60.
