From the same house in Hamden, two scholars fought for the top spot in the Independent’s ongoing typo-catching contest.

In the end, they both won.

Leanna Boychenko, who’s 27, and Sean Harrigan, who’s 30, received their prize mugs at the Independent newsroom last week. They blew the rest of the pack out of the water in the latest typo-catching contest. Their only competition was each other.

The two are grad students who live together in Hamden and study in the classics department at Yale. Boychenko said their scholarly work may have given them just a small advantage. “I guess only in that we read for a living.”

The new round of typo-catching has just begun. Notify us of our typos and if you catch the most, you’ll earn a New Haven Independent coffee cup.

You’d get more entrants in the contest if you’d feature it more prominently on the home page.  I didn’t even realize you were still doing it.  Where’s the link?

Sad when the independent needs its readers to catch typos rather then the so called journalists or editors.

Does anyone else find this play on words to be somewhat in poor taste, considering the current state of affairs in the city?
