link4.jpgNew Haven’s zombies came out in full force on Saturday night for Zombie Fest 2007, sponsored by the New Haven Advocate, Magic Hat and Costume Bazaar to raise money for the endangered Downtown Soup Kitchen. The Independent’s undead correspondent was on hand to create this multimedia presentation.

102007_0409.JPGAspiring zombies gathered at the Bottega Lounge where makeup artists were transforming everyday New Haveners into walking corpses. The event was a food drive for local soup kitchens. Cans of vegetables and boxes of pasta were exchanged for decaying flesh and oozing blood.

braaains_14.JPGGreen Party mayoral candidate Ralph Ferrucci was spotted among the zombies, courting New Haven’s coveted undead constituency.

102107_0305.JPGOther celebrities were spotted as the Zombies stumbled en masse from the Bottega Lounge to Cafe Nine. Around 1:30 a.m., undead hordes were seen dragging themselves away from Cafe Nine, accompanied by moans of “Braaaaains,” and “Ruuuuudy’s.”
