Vote! Even If You’re 17!

The other day, I looked up "ubiquitous" in the dictionary, and Aaron's picture was there. Then I turned to "good egg," and I saw his photo.

Aaron Goode has a message for voters: get out and turn up for the primary election this Wednesday, even if you're 17. That is, if you'll be 18 by the general election in November.

I would love to vote.But due to the crooked Two Party System this state has Closed primaries which only the voters affiliated with a party may vote in its primary.

Add Mr. Goode to the list of locals who deserve their own show on WNHH! He's always well-informed and has interesting opinions and good ideas. New Haven Votes is a perfect example of his altruistic approach to political engagement.

Three-fifths: Play the game. Register, vote in the primary, then change your affiliation to Unaffiliated.

Yes, the system is stacked and duopoly has NO interest in making it a level playing field, even though both parties have lost membership and "unaffiliated" is the fastest growing group.

Bernie Sanders is a game-changer. He identifies as a socialist, joined the Dems so he could run in the primaries and be included in the debates. He has a history of progressive politics and been involved with Civil Rights, both to eliminate racist policies and to empower LGBT citizens.

Ralph Nader seems to sneer at Bernie's lack of organization, but the fact is he is recruiting a grass roots movement that gets stronger every day and will not vote for any of the other candidates if Bernie doesn't get the nomination.

Since Bernie won't accept PAC money or donations from billionaires, how does he do it?

Answer: the people want and demand meaningful change.

Ignore the mass media that have a vested interest in the status quo and prefers to focus on trivia, rather than the substantial issues (global warming continues!) that people are genuinely concerned about.

So don't sit on the sidelines. Register. Vote. Re-register.

Yes, it is easy, just takes a few minutes to register as a Dem or Repub and you can go back a day or two after the Primary and change back to unaffiliated. I have done it several times.

Have been a Dem several times for primaries---- A Repub., once or twice

It was a disappointment to learn Sanders would not run as an Independent were he to lost the nomination, but the Dems treatment of Ralph Nader for Gore's loss in Florida and poor decision not to challenge specific voting districts has made the point: you'll be a pariah forever if you don't play by our rules.
Many Sanders supporters will NOT vote for any other candidate if Bernie doesn't make it.
The system is rigged.
We do what we can until the playing field is leveled.
