Connecticut’s first case of West Nile Virus this year has shown up in New Haven.
That’s according to a release from the state Department of Public Health.
According to the release:
A New Havener in his or her 30s fell sick in the first week of August. The person was hospitalized with meningitis after symptoms of headache, stiff neck, nausea, and muscle weakness. The person has since been discharged from the hospital and is recovering.
Mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus have been found repeatedly in and around New Haven this summer, as well as in 39 other towns in Connecticut.
City spokeswoman Elizabeth Benton said people should check out the West Nile prevention tips on the city’s website.
