When, Where To Vote On Tuesday

Alder Richard Furlow readies Ward 27 canvassing for Harp’s reelection campaign.

Polls open at voting stations citywide at 6 a.m. Tuesday and close at 8 p.m., as New Haveners select a mayor, alders, and first-ever elected Board of Education members.

Democratic Mayor Toni Harp is running for a second two-year term against unaffiliated challengers Ron Smith and Sundiata Keitezulu.

Meanwhile, Darnell Goldson is running unopposed for one Board of Ed seat. Democrat Edward Joyner faces Republican James O’Connell for the other seat.

Most of the 30 Democrats running for seats on the Board of Alders candidates are running unopposed. Republicans are fielding candidates in 3 of the 30 wards; four Democrats who lost September primaries have their names appearing as unaffiliated candidates in races, as well.

Harp campaign aide Mike Harris hands Ward 25 door-knocking assignments to Myles Raymond and Nick Rivera.

The contested races are in Yale’s Ward 1, where Democrat Sarah Eidelson faces Republican Ugonna Eze; Fair Haven Heights’ Ward 11, where Democrat Barbara Constaninople faces Republican Ronald Codianni; Bishop Woods’ Ward 12, where Democrat Gerald Antunes faces independent (and incumbent) Richard Spears; Fair Haven’s Ward 14, where Democrat Santiago Berrios-Bones faces independent Thomas Burwell; Morris Cove’s Ward 18, where Democrat Sal DeCola faces Republican Lisa Milone and independent Bob Proto (not the union president); Beaver Hills’ Ward 28, where Democrat Jill Marks faces independent (and incumbent) Claudette Robinson-Thorpe.

Following is a list of polling places by ward. (Call the registrar of voters at 203 – 946-8035 during working horus if you’re not sure about your ward.)
