The police provided a fuller report about the robbery and home invasion in Westville that occurred Wednesday, including the facts that the victim had been tied up during the incident and the robbers stole money and a gun.
Here’s the latest, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:
The victim, a 50-year-old woman, told officers she answered the doorbell at the home office of Longobardi Oil on Alden Avenue at around 10:30 a.m. Two men were there. One “pointed a gun at her and ordered to the floor.” The accomplice “rushed in yelling, ‘Where’s the money?’”
After they tied her up with a phone cord and continued demanding money, she directed them to a bag in which they found “about a thousand dollars.” They then “shoved the victim into the bathroom and closed the door.” After she heard them leave, she came out to discover “company checks and a 380 caliber handgun” missing as well as the money.
Hartman offered this description of the two suspects: “The first robber is a medium complexioned black man who stands about five-foot-six and weighs about 170 pounds. He wore all black clothing including a hooded sweatshirt and carried a light colored bag with dark handles. The second robber was similarly described but taller – about six feet. He wore a dark colored fitted cap and a hooded sweatshirt.”

Hartman also reported an unrelated home invasion on Front Street Tuesday, after which a 46-year-old man came home to “find his front door broken into” and eight weapons — three shotguns, a rifle and four handguns” — missing along with “an estimated $8,000 worth of jewelry.”
I guess home invasions are not a hot topic. Hopefully the victim is okay.
