In addition to sports, we read about poor Louis Solomon who was hit by the “machine,” as an automobile was also called back then. It was driven by one Dr. T.S. McDermott. Louis limped into court displaying his injury and demanded $30,000 for what he described as a permanent injury.
Think the wheels of justice turn slowly now? The accident in question occurred on Church Street back in 1913, two years before.
