Yet Another Election Scheduled

Voters will go to the polls April 24 to select a successor to Gary Holder-Winfield as state representative in the 94th state General Assembly District.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy Sunday set that date for the special election.

Holder-Winfield has held that state legislative seat since 2009. On Feb. 25 he ascended to a state Senate seat by winning a special election, one of a slew scheduled this year for state and local alder seats.

The district covers portions of New Haven’s Newhallville and East Rock neighborhoods. It also covers part of the southern end of Hamden.

Former Newhallville Alder Charles Blango said he’s running for the seat. Two people from Hamden — Rey Harp, brother-in-law of New Haven Mayor Toni Harp; and Berita Rowe-Lewis—have expressed interest in running, too.
