The Branford boys soccer team evened their record to 4 – 4 with a tough well-played soccer game Tuesday at the James L. MacVeigh Alumni Athletic Center, defeating the North Haven Indians 3 – 2.
The Hornets scored first when Max Condon, senior co-captain, blasted a shot past North Haven goalie Joe Russo at 12:12. He was assisted on the goal by Aaron Radulski. The Indians evened the score at 1 – 1 ten minutes later on a goal by Ethan Pavano.
The two clubs stayed even until the second half when Branford’s Gobari Idamkue made it 2 – 1 on a long shot past Russo at 60:00.
A minute later teammate Joe Roca made it 3 – 1 on an assist from his brother Nick. North Haven closed the scoring on a late goal by Ian Dunning on the Hornets hung on for their fourth win of the season.
Branford goalie Billy Bustos had 9 saves and Joe Russo had 6 for the Indians. Branford was outshot 13 – 10. North Haven fell to 4 – 3‑1.
The next home game for the Hornets is October 8 when they face the combined Hillhouse-Career team at 6:30 pm.
