Coach Rich Biondi was excited when his Branford boys’ track team defeated the North Haven Indians in their dual meet last week. North Haven had a 9 – 1 record going into the contest and the Hornets defeated them, 82 – 68.
“I was very happy with the win over North Haven,” Biondi said. “They are an outstanding team, one that is well- coached.”
Branford had excellent performances from several members on the team.
Nathan D’Amico (pictured) was a member of three winning relay teams the 4x100, the 4X400 and the 4X800.
Senior co-captain Colin Tracy won both the high jump with a leap of 5’6 and the discus with a throw of 121’9.
He is an outstanding athlete and was a co-captain of three sports, outdoor track, football and basketball.

Cam O’Neil had a leap of 16’7 in the long jump.
Members of the winning 4X400 relay are L‑R Marshall Borrus, Nathan D’Amico, Alec Janis and David Donnelly. They won with a time of 3:36.
The Hornets competed in the SCC championships yesterday at Sheehan and finished 15th among the 20 member schools. They ended their season at 8 – 3.
Branford’s top performance was a second place finish in the 4X800 with a time of 8:14.21. Hillhouse High in New Haven took top honors.
