BHS Boys Soccer Wins Home Opener

The Hornet’s Boys soccer team opened their first home game Friday with a 3 – 2 come-from-behind victory over the Amity Spartans. The game was played at Branford’s James L. MacVeigh Athletic Complex.

At the outset, Branford fell behind 1 – 0 after an early Amity goal by Dean Schwartz. Branford Co-Captain Max Condon (#18) evened the score at one apiece when he scored the tying goal.

Then Amity scored one more time to take a 2 – 1 lead into the half. The teams played a scoreless second half until Hornet senior Adam Radulski scored on an unassisted goal to even the score. Here’s John Tratnyek in action.

Coach Paul Hunter’s club took the lead for good when Jack Pottenger, a senior co-captain, scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Condon.

This clinched the Hornet victory at 3 – 2. Here are the co-captains from L to R: Michael Caminear, Joseph Roca, Max Condon and Jack Pottenger.

Branford evened their record to 1 – 1 after losing their opener to Shelton 4 – 1. Amity fell to 0 – 2.
