Coates to Wompom: The 1639 Guilford Trade Goods
Henry Whitfield State Museum, 248 Old Whitfield St., Guilford.
The town is celebrating the 375th Celebration of Whitfield House. Attend the exhibit of reproduction trade goods the Guilford colonists gave to the Menuncatuck tribe. From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free parking included with admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors (60+), $5 children (6 – 17).
Ledyard Fair

It may take an hour to get there by car but it’s worth it. The Ledyard Fair’s 69th year gets underway this weekend. Events center on animal competitions, including horse shows, oxen pulls and goat exhibits. There will also be historical displays and children’s programs. The fair is located at Ledyard Fairgrounds on Colonel Ledyard Highway.
The fair is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission, which includes all stage entertainment, is $9 for adults and $5 for seniors and kids ages 11 to 17. Tickets and all-day wristbands for rides are sold separately. Shoreline Greenway Trail Walk
Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Shoreline Greenway Trailhead (SGT) on Route 1, east of the entrance road. Leashed dogs welcome.
HOME Jazz Series
At 8 p.m. Saxophonist Phil Denny will take the stage at HOME restaurant at 1114 Main St. Denny has been described as “a passionate and soulful talent with a contagious sound end energy.” Reservations suggested. To purchase tickets, visit the Blueplate Radio website.
