Here’s Halloween….Need we say more? Get ready for kids in costumes hitting the streets. This weekend offers walks in the woods and a trip to the Green to see scarecrows. Get ready to turn back the clock. 

Friday, Oct 31 

Halloween Pumpkin Spectacular at Saybrook Point Inn & Spa features more than 350 locally grown, hand-carved pumpkins that will be on display during the first annual Pumpkins On The Point.” And there’s more: trick or treat trials, hayrides, a haunted cemetery tour, a farmer’s market, music and food. Admission is free and open to the public. Events begin at 4 p.m. at 2 Bridge St., Old Saybrook.

Saturday, Nov 1

Pumpkins On The Point” tour of Cypress Cemetery, one of the nation’s oldest and continuously operating burial grounds. Cypress Cemetery is steeped in colonial history dating to the early Saybrook Colony in 1635.Tours of Cypress Cemetery will leave the parking lot at Saybrook Point Inn & Spa beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Men Who Cook Tasting Event. Neil Fuentes, the Singing Chef” of Jojoto restaurant in Short Beach will be the emcee. Cost: $100 to benefit the Women & Family Life Center of Guilford. Limited number of tickets will be sold at the door. Owengo Beach & Tennis Club, 40 Linden Ave., Branford. Event begins at 5 p.m.

Daylight Saving Time Ends

This could be the coolest event of all. We gain an hour. Why? Because on Sunday at 2 a.m. daylight savings time ends. So before you head to bed, turn your clocks back one hour. Smart phones with automatic settings will do it for you, but those with good old-fashioned watches will have to turn back an hour by hand.
