Spring is on the horizon but not before winter gets in its last licks. On this last weekend of the winter season freezing, rainy weather is predicted, but the St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Greater New Haven will go on. This is also a weekend to pursue antiques in Guilford and to hear two master musicians right here in Branford.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Greater New Haven is a great event, one filled with music, festivities and families. Tim Gallogly, seen at last year’s parade, is the Grand Marshal this year.
The parade steps off at Chapel Street and Sherman Avenue at 1:30 p.m. The Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corp will participate as they did last year.
Here is Joe Mooney, chair of the town’s Board of Finance, on drums.
The next generation of fife and drum corp players is a strong one. Here they are representing Branford’s Saint Mary School at last year’s parade.
The reviewing stand is at City Hall. This is a lively event, filled with music and good cheer. Here is First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove at last year’s parade.
Remember that the New Haven Police plan to enforce laws banning public consumption of alcohol. This means no open containers.
Our sports photographer Bill O’Brien is the parade’s photographer along with George Waldron.
