Branford Jazz on the Green Series
Listen to the Hartford Jazz Orchestra for the third installment in the Branford Summer Jazz Series. The Orchestra has been playing together for 40 years, most recently under the leadership of Donn Trenner. Trenner has toured with numerous groups in his career and was nominated for an Emmy Award when working as musical director for Shirley Maclaine. The group has performed with Zoot Sims and Clark Terry over the years and will be joined on stage at point by singer Nicole Pasternak.

Jazz at HOME series
From 8 p.m.to 10 p.m. on Friday, Grammy-nominated guitarist Gil Parris will perform at HOME restaurant (1114 Main St). Parris has appeared on the Tonight Show, the Late Night Show with David Letterman and others. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. To buy tickets, click here.
Saturday, July 12
Plant Sale
The United Methodist Church (811 E. Main St.) is hosting a Day Lily and perennial plant sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The plants range in price from $6 to $12.
Library Crafts
Make crafts at the Blackstone Memorial Library (758 Main St.). From 9 p.m. to 4 p.m., anyone can go to the preschool room for the “Make it or Take it” event. No registration is necessary.

Bluegrass at Bayview Park, Stony Creek
Stacy Phillips and his Bluegrass Characters will perform from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
