Jazz on the Green Series
Head to the Green at 6:30 p.m. to hear jazz artists David Newsam on guitar and Fred Haas on saxophone and piano. The duo has performed internationally and throughout New England. In addition to working together, they have traveled individually with many other groups over the years. Drummer Tim Gilmore and bassist David Clark will join the two musicians on stage.
Book Reading
At 7 p.m., local author Norman Weissman will lead a discussion and read aloud from his recently released book “Oh Palestine: The Dream Deferred.” The event is free and will take place at the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library at 146 Thimble Islands Rd.

Guilford Crafts Fair
Travel next door to Guilford for the Guilford Art Center’s 57th Annual Craft Expo. The event will kick off on Friday and run through Sunday on the town Green at 33 Whitfield St. As one of the top craft fairs in New England, the show will feature over 175 nationally recognized craft artists with a variety of trades. The expo will run from noon to 9 p.m., 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Outer Island Art Experience
The Friends of Outer Island organization is offering a series of art workshops this Saturday on Outer Island, one of the Thimble Islands in Branford. The workshops are entitled “Photography and Microscopy,” “Intro to Watercolor” and “Sketching.” Ferries will leave from the Stony Creek Dock for each event. Branford Contra Dance
Join friends for the last dance of the summer! The beginner workshop starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Branford Community House at 46 Church St. Admission is $5 for students. Paul Wilde will call the dance, accompanied by Light Reaction, a father-daughter music duo.
