Classical Guitarist Plays 

Neal Fitzpatrick, a local classical guitarist, will perform at Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library, 146 Thimble Islands Road, Stony Creek. Event begins at 7 p.m.

CT Trails Day Hike At Supply Pond

The Branford Land Trust will celebrate Connecticut Trails Day with a guided hike at the popular Supply Ponds. Meet at the parking lot at the pond at the end of Short Rocks Road and Chestnut Street. The walk will be 1.5 to 2 miles and will take between 90 minutes and two hours. Terrain is generally rolling with a few short steeper sections. Suitable for ages 5 and up; younger children welcome but parents need to be prepared to carry them if necessary. Dogs allowed if on leash and well socialized. For all BLT walks, please wear appropriate dress and comfortable, supportive walking shoes. Bring water. Walking sticks welcome. For more information on these events, visit www.branfordlandtrust.org. Jack and Jill Shower sponsored by the Branford Compassion Club

In honor of Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month, the Branford Compassion club will hold a Jack & Jill shower for its adult cats at 2037 Foxon Road, North Branford. Adoption fees are $35 for the month of June. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The shelter’s wish list includes wet and dry food, litter, cleaning supplies, paper towels and tall kitchen trash bags. For a complete list, visit www.branfordcompassionclub.org. Stop by for refreshments. Admission: Free

Branford Blessing of the Fleet

The annual Blessing of the Fleet takes place at the Branford Town Dock from noon to 1 p.m. Boats will be blessed by Branford clergy as they sail past the town dock on the Branford River toward the Branford Harbor. The event is sponsored by the New Haven Chapter of The United States Power Squadrons.

Church of Christ Stony Creek Strawberry Festival

Come and enjoy homemade strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream, grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, ice tea and lemonade. Stroll along the Eunice Medlyn cookie walk for an assortment of delicious homemade cookies. Event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free admission and parking.
The Church of Christ Congregational is located at 192 Thimble Islands Road. Rain or shine. All proceeds will benefit the Church of Christ. For more information call 203 – 488-7827.

Jamming On The Green

The Tabor Blues Band will jam on the town Green tonight. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. and runs to 9:30 p.m. Musicians and music lovers are welcome. The band will also perform on the Greenn on July 11 and August 1.

The 5th Annual Nunu’s Ride

The James Nunu” Glee Athletic Fund was created to memorialize the life of local standout athlete, James Glee, whose life was unexpectedly cut short by a drunk driver on Aug. 18, 2010, at the age of 29. The fund’s goal is to provide financial support for student athletes who share the same core values of integrity, friendship, loyalty, and discipline and who are in need financially. All Bikes welcome! Admission: Riders: $25, Passengers: $15; BBQ: $15. Kids under 12 are free.

Directions: Riders” meet at the I‑95, exit 55 commuter lot in Branford. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Ride departs at 11 a.m. and ends at the Branford Elks Lodge, 158 South Montowese St. Website: www.nunusride.com

Bark-A-Luau sponsored by the Daniel Cosgrove Animal Shelter

The Bark-a-Luau takes place at the Owenego Beach Club, 40 Linden Ave., to benefit the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter. Bark-A-Luau festivities will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Rock Bottom performs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. A Celebrity Hula Dance-Off will be featured. There will be Hawaiian dancing, Hoola-hoop contests, limbo contests, buffet. Dennis Nardella will serve as DJ. Admission: $40
