The Branford golf team entered their match with Jonathan Law last Monday with a 6 – 5 record and had been beaten by the Lawmen last month at Orange Hills, 182 – 191.
From that loss to Law the Hornets rebounded and got revenge over the 10 – 1 Milford school, defeating them by 20 strokes 178 – 198 at the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club.

The team has been playing well,” said coach Jen Kohut. In fact they played a match the day following Law against East Haven and Wilbur Cross and beat both of them to be at 9 – 5 at the present time. They have defeated Foran and East Haven twice and Lyman Hall, North Haven, Hillhouse, Cross and Law once each.
The Hornets were led by co-captain Ryan Sember, a junior, who was the Medalist at 38. “Ryan is leading the team averaging 40 (for nine holes) through the first 12 matches,” said Kohut.
Sophomore Liam Deane came in second with a score of 45.
He was followed by co-captains Joe Reilly with a 45.
Michael Annunziata with a 50. Only the top four scores count for the team total.
Other Branford players in the match included Jason Brennan, Scott Klouda, Harrison Kent, and Eunhee Lee, the only female on the team.
Here Klouda hits his five iron on the third fairway.
“Our goals include qualifying for both the SCC and Division II State Championship’s,” said the coach. “Currently we are ranked 12th in the Division II rankings”.
