The Branford Lady Hornets came out against the North Haven Indians last Tuesday looking like the UConn Lady Huskies. They jumped to a 15 – 5 lead after the first quarter and increased it to 27 – 13 at halftime.
Branford built the lead to 19 after three periods before the Indians made a strong run in the final stanza, outscoring the Hornets 20 – 12 before bowing 46 – 35.

Senior co-captain Adrienne DiGioia led all scorers with 15 including a couple when North Haven made it close in the fourth quarter. Here she drives between three defenders to score on a layup.
The Hornets played aggressively in the first quarter scoring 13 points before North Haven hit their first basket. The Indians turned the ball over several times because of Branford’s tough defense, and they also missed several easy shots under the basket. Here sophomore Marisa Minore passes to a teammate.
Branford seemed to get to comfortable with their lead when the Indians started their comeback. Senior Julia Puzone led the way for North Haven scoring 14 points.

The Indians whittled the lead to four with three minutes to go before DiGioia and senior Kate Cabahug hit several key foul shots. DiGioia went seven for seven from the line in the game.
