Lady Hornets Sink Dragons for Third Straight Win

The Branford girls swim team is off to a good start after their 96 – 86 win over Hamden last week at the John O’Connor Pool at Walsh Intermediate School.

We’re off to a 3 – 0 start with some tough meets starting next week.” The Hornets will be at SCC Amity, one of the league’s top swim programs, on Monday.

The young Hornets have lots of talent and the coach is trying to determine who is ready to step up to be a regular in the lineup.

In Monday’s meet against Hamden the Hornets started out strong with first place finishes in the first seven events, starting with the 200 Medley Relay. Swimmers in that event were Isabel Albinger, Sally Nardella, Gabija Karosas and Cordelia Keberle with a winning time of 2:08.51 over the Green Dragons who finished in 2:10.98.

Others first place winners included Gabby Gillis in the 200 Free, Adrienne Dillon in both the 200 IM and 50 Fly, Isabel Albinger 50 Free, and Cordelia Keberle 100 Free.

Branford also took the top two spots in the diving with junior Kaitlyn Haynes taking first with a score of 178.95 and senior teammate Quinn Franco-Camacho coming in second at 166.60.
