The Branford Lady Hornets tennis team lost their match with Sheehan last week 6 – 1, falling to 0 – 3 on the season. The match was held at the high school. Sheehan improved to 2 – 0 with the win over the young Hornets.
“Although our team is young and light in numbers, I see improvement every day and a willingness to try new things and embrace the process”, said Coach Bill Previdi. “That’s all you can ask as a coach”. The team’s next match is today.
Branford’s lone win was by sophomore Jennifer Hwang 6 – 2, 6 – 4 over Tessa Arsenault.
Other singles matches also ended in defeat. Junior Ellie Bloomquist (pictured) fell 6 – 1, 6 – 1; Junior Co-captain Rachel Krug was defeated 6 – 1, 6 – 4.
Junior Paige McNeil (pictured) lost 6 – 0, 6 – 2.
Both doubles teams were defeated as well. Sophomore Allie Cerrone(pictured) and senior co-captain Amanda Mauriello fell 6 – 1,6 – 3.
And Karlee Kessler and Senior Rachael Cholewinski (pictured) lost 6 – 1,6 – 1.
The Hornets next home match is against the Career Panthers at 3:45 p.m. today.
