After the Snowstorm

Mary Johnson Photos The first major snowfall of the year swooped down on Branford Saturday. Public Works was quick to clear the roads and by Monday, with temperatures rising, the snow began to melt.  Rain followed.

But before the rain, our photographer Mary Johnson was out and about, capturing the scenes and the sculpture the snow brought. 

 The heart of town near the Green is usually bustling on a Saturday.

Here’s Foote Riverside Park. 

And Pine Orchard Road.

Here’s how it looked in Short Beach.

And in Stony Creek.

A small bridge off Kirkham St. 

  Along Linden Avenue lobster pot buoys recall the days of summer. 


And on Indian Neck Avenue, the wheel comes full circle with another two chairs telling the story of summer life.

Beautiful! I wish we had a lot more snowstorms—a curse on global warming!

I thought you might like to see these pictures, some of which look out at the
Thimble Islands - a lot different than in the summer but still pretty.
