State Rep. Lonnie Reed Wins Perfect Environmental Score

With Permission

The state’s leading environmental watchdog group has given State Rep. Lonnie Reed, (D‑Branford), a perfect 100 percent score for supporting key pieces of environmental legislation this legislative session.

The watchdog group, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV), said Rep.Reed also earned a lifetime score of 96 percent. Reed is House chair of the Energy and Technology Committee.

The Hartford Business Journal also put Reed on the cover of its Fall Green Guide, which examined the renewable energy industry and renewable opportunities in Connecticut.

The guide’s article also noted that a bill to modernize the electric grid and to create a methodology to value distributed energy resources died during the last day of the session after Reed voted against the state budget. But the bill, SB 570, was resurrected and became law as part of the so-called
implementer package.

As an elected official, ensuring that future generations can enjoy a better Connecticut is one of my primary responsibilities,” Reed said. Protecting our environment for all to enjoy is very important to me and it is also critically important for our economy.”

Having clean air, land, and water makes Connecticut a more desirable place to live and do business and I look forward to tackling more environmental issues next session.” Reed is in her fourth term in office.
