Democratic incumbents State Sen. Ted Kennedy Jr., and state Rep. Lonnie Reed swept to easy victories in Branford Tuesday night.
Kennedy took 27,774 votes by 9:15 pm to win his second term. Republican challenger Bruce Wilson received 18,347 votes in his second challenge to Kennedy. Some of the smaller districts were not in yet.
Reed received 6,147 votes to claim her fifth term. Her Republican challenger, Chris Kelly, a political newcomer, got 4,594 votes.
Democratic incumbent State Rep. Sean Scanlon ran unopposed. He represents two sections of Branford and all of Guilford.
