Alverna Francette Smart, 49

Alverna Francette Smart passed away on March 3, 2017.

She was born on June 13, 1967 to the late Samuel Anderson and Alice Marie Haynes in Savannah, Ga. She was raised and reared by Ycoma Little and the late Earl Smart. She graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1985.

She dedicated over 15 years of employment to Pez Candy Incorporated and has shown her love and compassion, as a caregiver, for 15 years to Merle Weisman. She had a love for cooking and music. Her favorite artist was Mary J. Blige and her favorite color was purple. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, and going to the casino before her passing on March 3, 2017.

Alverna leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Ycoma Little and stepfather, T.C. Little of New Haven; sisters, Sesalena Smart, Evongee Smart, Lawanda Little, Earline Smart, Jennifer Smart, all of New Haven, Vanessa Jones, Donna Haynes, Felicia (Theo) Brown, Carol Upshaw, Sabrina (James) Brown Putney, and Amanda Dillard, all of Savannah, Ga., brothers, Lunre Smart, Paul Ford, Walter Smart, all of New Haven, and Tony Haynes of Savannah, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and Friends. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Smart.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 143 Shelton Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
