Anna M. Oliver

091009_AnnaMOliver.jpgAnna Muriel Oliver, 96 of New Haven passed away September 6, 2009. Mrs. Muriel Oliver was born November 6, 1912 in Harlem, New York to the late Richard and Carrie (White) Page. Mrs. Muriel was educated in local New York schools where she attended Hunter College for three years. She was an accomplished violinist and was playing in the church orchestra where she met her late husband District Elder Walter J. Oliver, founder of Ebenezer Chapel, Inc. After moving to New Haven where she, along with her husband opened Walt’s Cleaners in 1946 where she worked continuously until she was 79 years old. She also served as the photographer for the neighborhood of Southwest Drive in New Haven capturing moments from the 40’s of prominent New Haven families. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory; sons, Pastor Walter Richard Oliver (Barbara), Deacon Kenneth Vincent Oliver (Carol), and Pastor Ronald Page Oliver (Corncie), all from Connecticut; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren, her brother-in-law and Pastor, Suffragan Bishop Joseph H. Oliver (Carrie), three sister-in-laws, Katherine Lockett, Sarah Johnson, and Pastor Winifred Nunes and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, God children, church family and friends. A celebration of her life will take place Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 5:00 PM at Ebenezer Chapel, Inc. 50 Dwight Street New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Sunday at the church from 3:00 – 5:00 PM with reflections from friends beginning at 4:00 PM. Interment will take place Monday, September 14, 2009 at 9 AM at Beaverdale Memorial Park, in New Haven, CT. Services by Howard K.
