Charlie Rountree, Jr., 79, of New Haven, departed this life February 16, 2014.
He was the widower of Louvernia Rountree.
Born in Jenkins County, GA, March 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Charlie Rountree, Sr. and Hannah Pierce Rountree.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Orange Health Care Center and was a member of St. Matthew’s UFWB Church.
Mr. Rountree is survived by sisters, Albertha Rose, Molly Hagood, Mary Rountree, Ella Lane and Mattie Jones; a goddaughter, Brenda Campbell (David); and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mr. Rountree’s life will be held Monday, February 24, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
