Cleveland Mills, 80

Cleveland Mills, Jr., 80, of New Haven, departed this life June 24, 2013.

Born in Ayden, NC, May 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Cleveland Mills, Sr. and Ida Mae Mills.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at the former U.S. Repeating Arms as a Machine Operator.
He is survived by his former spouse, Ann Mills Highsmith; sons, Gary Mills and Cleveland Artis; daughters, Brando Evans (Corkey Rogers), Patricia Reed (Albert), Denise Mills, Sudail Carruthers (Leroy), Vanessa Davis (Douglas) and Gloria Artis; a brother, Clarence Mills; a sister, Dolois Woods; a special niece, Diane Frasier; special nephew, Ronnie Moye; special cousin, Freddy Daniels; 24 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Mills; a daughter, Connie Mills; brothers, Willie Ray and Jasper Mills; and sisters, Doris Moye, Eva Mae Mills, Mardesie Washington, Mary Green, Doretha Williams, Helen Mills and Linda Alston.
A celebration of Mr. Mills’ life and legacy will be held Friday, July 5, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Online guestbook available at curvinkcouncil.com
