Darrell F. Tyson, 87, born to the late Samuel M. Tyson and Henrietta Dowell, passed away November 29, 2014, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
He will be remembered for his service in the army and as an executive manager at SNET Communications. In his pastime, Mr. Tyson enjoyed listening to jazz and Frank Sinatra and playing billiards. He was also a long standing and faithful member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory son Scott Tyson; step-daughters Doreen Mills of California and Sandra Deleaille of Middletown, CT; brothers Halstead Tyson and Wycleff Tyson of Florida, Eston Tyson of the Nevis (West Indies), and Dr. Samuel Tyson of Virginia; sisters Shirley Tyson, Sheila Tyson and Alice Tyson all of Nevis (West Indies), Phyllis Tyson of Maryland, and Earla Tyson-Cotton of New Jersey; brother-in-laws Ralph (Ramona) Gatison of North Haven and Larry (Vernita) McNeil of New Jersey; and sister-in-laws Wilhelmina Whichard of West Haven and Gearlene Salters of Milford; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by wife Delores C. Tyson and son Frederick D. Tyson.
A celebration of his life will take place Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11AM at St. Luke’s Parish Church; 111 Whalley Ave. New Haven, CT 06511. Interment is private. Services by Howard K.
