Delores White, 73

Delores W. White, 73, of New Haven, departed this life June 29, 2014.

She was the wife of Herman L. White, Sr.
Born in Tuscaloosa, AL, May 10, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Horton and Laura Williams Horton.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at the former Southern New England Telephone Co. and was later employed as Licensed Practical Nurse.
Mrs. White was a member of Community Baptist Church in New Haven for numerous years, serving on several boards and auxiliaries. She later became a member of First Baptist Church in Milford where she served on the Missionary Board.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Jacqueline and Lisa M. White; sons, John W., Dwayne E., Robert and Lamont White; brothers, Larry Williams and Douglas, Ernest and Thomas Horton; sisters, Josephine High, Ophelia Horton-Williams, Bonnie Rogers and Julia and Bernadine Horton; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Herman L. White, Jr.; a brother, Otis Horton; and sisters, Ethel West and Toni Horton.
A celebration of Mrs. White’s life and legacy will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 28 North St., Milford. Viewing will be held at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
