Diane P. Hardy, 72

Diane P. (Pomerleau) Hardy, 72, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

She was the wife of Louis C. Hardy for 52 years. Born in Rochester, New Hampshire on Dec. 16, 1940; daughter of the late Edward J. and Beatrice Turmelle Pomerleau. Diane had worked for more than 31 years for the federal government, including more than 29 years at the West Haven VA Medical Center. She served as the Administrative Officer to the Director at the VA for nine consecutive directors until her retirement in 2004. She also loved to travel, including 20 years as an Air Force wife where she made homes in New Hampshire, Mississippi, Libya, Texas, Hawaii, and finally Connecticut. She especially loved to vacation in the Caribbean and was an avid reader.

Diane is survived by her three sons, Timothy Hardy, and his wife, Lisa Hardy, of Marietta, NY; Gregory Hardy and his wife, Judith Houde Hardy, of Meriden, NH; and Douglas Hardy and his wife, Christine Stuart, of Windsor, CT.

Diane was grandmother to Sarah Kate Czornig (husband John) and Jasmine, Kelsey, Cooper, and Grayson Hardy, and she was great-grandmother to three: Emma Hardy and Aiden and Tucker Czornig. She also was survived by two of her brothers, Ronald Pomerleau and his wife, Nancy, of Amherst, NH, and David Pomerleau of Roanoke, VA. Diane was predeceased by her brother, Glen Butch” Pomerleau. Diane also is survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Pomerleau of Dover, NH, and an aunt, Irene Shevenell, of Scarborough, ME, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Diane’s Life on Tuesday, April 23rd from 4 to 7 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Diane would have wanted you to go out with your significant other or friends, to have a good meal and remember all the wonderful times you shared.
