Dorothy Mae Moore, 86

Dorothy Mae Moore, 86, of New Haven, departed this life May 29.

She was the widow of Leslie Roscoe Moore Sr. Born in Columbia, S.C., on Sept. 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Louella Holman.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at Olin Corp. as an assembler and was the owner of a day care center for numerous years. Mrs. Moore was a member of St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, where she served on the Usher Board over 50 years.

She is survived by a son, Lawrence Moore; a daughter, JoAnn Henderson; grandchildren Traci Heard and Andre Moore; great-grandchildren Ryan and Brandon Moore and LaNaysia Barrett; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Leslie Roscoe Moore, Jr.

A celebration of Mrs. Moore’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation.
