Dorothy P. Young, 84, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on June 15, 2016.
Dorothy was born February 11, 1932 in Asheville, N.C. to the late Monroe Pruitt and Louise (Duckett) Pruitt-Harris. She graduated from New Rochelle High School in NY, and later resided in New Haven and married Louis Young.
Dorothy was employed as an audit clerk at the Knights of Columbus and retired after 25 years of service.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a brother Alphonso Pruitt of CA, sons; Kenneth (Patricia) Young of Hamden and Felix Young of New Haven, grandchildren; Robin Vaughn, Robshawn Young, Tamika Young all of New Haven; Jeffrey (Colby) Johnson of Maryland; one great granddaughter Londyn Jones of New Haven; and a host of family and friends. She was predeceased by a son Mark Young and daughter Cynthia Young-Moore. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 11 AM at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven, CT 06511 with a calling hour from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be held at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven, CT. Services by Howard K.
