Eleanor Council Blizzard, 96, transitioned from this life on Nov. 25, 2016 at home.
Mrs. Blizzard was born on Oct. 24, 1920 in Chatham County, N.C. She was among the oldest of eight children of Ernest Council Sr. and Beulah Mitchell Council, both deceased.
She was the wife of Jasper Blizzard (Red Bank, N.J.) and spent a good portion of her life tending the children of working parents. She loved to cook, go to bingo with her sister Audrey Knox, and most of all, she loved family dinners, cook-outs, and birthdays.
Mrs. Blizzard will be remembered by her only son and daughter-in-law, Wilbur Harold and Ruth McCormick, of Aurora, Colo.; one sister, Dora Ann Council (Hamden); grandsons, Harold McCormick (Ohio) and Andrew Paul McCormick (Colorado); one granddaughter, Bonita D. Williams (Ohio); a special grand niece, Lori Booker of Branford, CT; and a host of nieces, nephews (grand and great) and friends.
Mrs. Blizzard was predeceased by sisters, Pauline Clark (New Haven) and Audrey Knox (Hamden); brothers, Calvin Council (Baltimore), Edward Council (Red Bank, N.J.), Ernest Council, and Leonard Council (both of New Haven); and one grandson, Patrick Dennis McCormick (Colorado).
A celebration of life will take place Dec. 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St, New haven, CT 06511.
