Ernest E. Stewart, 78, of New Haven departed this life May 1.
Born in New Orleans, La., on Nov. 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles Stewart and Caroline Chaney. Prior to retiring, Mr. Stewart was employed by the City of New Haven Board of Education at Roberto Clemente Middle School as a science teacher.
He is survived by his children, Vincent, Anthony, Cynthia, Ernest Jr., and Cortez Stewart; his companion, Betty Hargrove; the Hargrove Family; a brother, Wilbert Sutton; his former spouse, Mary Stewart; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Jean Mims.
